Before starting my article I will like to say a few words about health.
“Every human being is the author of his own health or disease.”
“He, who has health, has hope. And he, who has hope, has everything.”
“It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver.”
Together with the colon cleanse, an intestinal flush seems to be the latest health and diet craze. But is it really healthy or does it actually harm your health having an intestinal flush? Like always when it comes to matters of what is called ‘alternative medicine’ there is a lot of hype around and very little proof. Lets look first at why certain health gurus say that you need an intestinal flush, also called saltwater flush, btw. The whole idea goes back to this magic word of ‘detoxification’. In the resources box further below, you find a link to a Wikipedia article, covering this magic health hype of ‘detoxification’. Here a summary of the article:
There is no proof that an auto-intoxication exists in the first place, hence there is no need for a detoxification. Health is a multi-billion industry and everybody wants to have a slice of the cake.
Do I say that you shouldn’t care about your body and what happens to it?
Far from it! Eating a healthy, balanced diet without falling into any extremes is the best thing what you can do for your body. A diet that is rich in fresh fruits and vegetables and low in fat, refined sugars and meat is healthy and will keep you healthy. But undergoing extreme, and unnecessary ‘cleaning procedures’ such as an intestinal flush does your body more harm than good.
